The $5 Indian Head gold coin was minted in 1908. It was one of the many coins produced by the order of President Theodore Roosevelt after he had attended a Greek coin exhibition at the Smithsonian. His inspiration for a more distinguishing design shines through with what many believe to be one of the most beautiful products in gold coins history.
These 90% gold coins are historic, constitutional money that once circulated in America. One might consider these coins as the gold equivalent to junk silver coins, that are basically worth their melt value. Money Metals offers a multitude of pre-1933 fractional gold for sale including the $10 and $2.50 Indian Head coin to name a few. Or the Gold Liberty Coin in the $2.50, $5, $10, and $20 versions.
These coins may be in polished or cleaned condition and are NOT slabbed or graded. Some coins may have extensive wear.
ABOUT THE DESIGN
Native American (obverse) – Boston artist Bela Lyon Pratt sculpted a beautiful left facing profile of a Native American wearing a large headdress.
Eagle (reverse) – The reverse features a prominent image of a bald eagle. Below its feet lie a bundle of olive branches and arrows.
Please note that GOLD LINKS would absolutely not be offering these types of US gold coins online if it were not for the attractive bullion-like premiums. Right now, these high purity coins for sale are super cheap, and whatever premiums that existed in the past have essentially evaporated.
